Opinion pieces | RESEARCH REPORT: The creative economy. Challenges and opportunities for the DC regions.

Author: Isabelle De Voldere, Eva Janssens, Jonas Onkelinx, Leo Sleuwaegen - Flanders DC and Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School, April 2006

In 2004, Flanders District of Creativity (Flanders DC) set up a network of creative regions worldwide with the aim of exchanging experiences and learning from each other’s practices in the field of economic policymaking. All these regions have sufficient regional competences to develop their own economic strategy and to act accordingly, primarily on economics and the labour market, but some also in areas such as education, science and innovation. Opinion pieces | Home, comfortable life and virtual internationality go strong in Finland today

Author: Asko Miettinen - Professor at Lappeeranta University of Technology - General Coordinator R+D+4i Project in Finland

Home, a comfortable life and virtual internationality seem to be prevailing values of today in Finland. Interestingly, these conservative values and safety orientation have been adopted particularly by young Finns aged 15-24 years.

Opinion pieces | Connecta amb la Innovació

Author: Joan Muñoz - Head of Distribution and Exhibition Area - Museo de la Ciencia y de la Técnica de Cataluña (mNACTEC)

The Museo de la Ciencia y de la Técnica de Cataluña (mNACTEC) actively develops the Programa de Ciencia, Innovación, Sostenibilidad y Salud, including the project Connecta amb la Innovació (Connect with innovation), one of the most remarkable ones. The technological advances which have made our lives easier since the human being started to use them in its origins have recently become far removed from the current society because of the speed of technological change. Catalonia is one of the regions that spends more on Research and Development, with an allocation of resources per researcher above the national average over the last decade.
